Kenan Afilitak, MD is a general surgeon with more than 35 years of experience, working across bariatric and metabolic surgery, minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgery and advanced laparoscopic procedures.

Born in Kayseri in 1959, Dr. Kenan Afilitak graduated from Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 1983. He completed his General Surgery training at Anadolu University in Eskişehir and became a specialist in 1989. Since then, his clinical practice has covered both the broad scope of general surgery and obesity and metabolic surgery.
He served as a General Surgery Specialist and Chief Physician at Dörtyol State Hospital. In 2004, he took responsibilities as a partner, General Coordinator and General Surgery Specialist during the establishment and management of a private hospital.
His clinical work centers on obesity and metabolic surgery, laparoscopic gallbladder procedures and hiatal hernia repair. He also maintains a broad general surgery practice covering breast and thyroid surgery, colorectal and anal conditions, endoscopy and ERCP.
He does not view surgery as the operation alone. Accurate diagnosis, a clear understanding of the available options, open discussion of risk, shared selection of an appropriate method and structured follow-up are complementary parts of one care journey.
His education in economics and healthcare management supports team coordination, patient communication and care planning alongside clinical decision-making. Dr. Afilitak is married with three children and speaks English.
Every surgical option is planned after considering medical history, current tests, previous treatments and the need for long-term follow-up.
Each stage is planned around careful assessment, clear communication, teamwork and personal follow-up.
